Probability of strong earthquake in Greece-Turkey

On September 27, 2021, an earthquake of magnitude 6 occurred near the city of Herakleion, Crete. This was the most important seismic event in the island for the last 100 years. Now seismologists’ concerns are focused on other areas of Greece, specifically in the Gulf of Patras and Corinth, the Sporades islands, the Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese Islands.

Based on astro-charto-geography (A*C*G*) which is a technique of projecting planetary positions on the Earth’s surface, the earthquake in Crete is justified by the line of Saturn descending during the preceding full moon, on September 21st. Saturn’s line (+/- 150km) also indicates the areas of Greece prone to seismic activity until the next full moon, on October 20.

On November 19 there is a lunar eclipse with the Moon at 28 degrees of Taurus. At the same time there will be a Mars-Uranus conjunction at 12-13 Taurus. At the time of the eclipse, the A*C*G* projection of the planets which are important for the prediction of earthquakes is shown in the following image.

Mars-Uranus conjunction affects the following seismic-volcanic regions of the Earth:

  1. Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific-Antarctic ridge (Uranus-Mars on the Midheaven/IC)
  2. The Jan Mayen Islands north of Iceland, the Mid-Atlantic fault, the Windward Islands near Venezuela, and Chile (Mars-Uranus at East/West)
  3. Romania, the islands of the East Aegean Sea and the coast of Asia Minor, the Congo-Rwanda border region, and the South African ridge (Mars-Uranus on the Midheaven/IC)
  4. China (Sichuan Province), Indonesia (Sulawesi Region), and the Macquarie Islands near Antarctica (Uranus-Mars at West/East)

The geological influence of the eclipses extends from a few days before the event to the six months that follow, until the next eclipse. In the following year, these are a solar on April 30,, at the 11 degree of Taurus,, and a lunar on May 16, at 26 Scorpio. So there will be increased seismic activity with M 5> earthquakes in the above areas in the six months following the eclipse of November. Not all the corresponding seismic faults will be activated. Yet, during November’s eclipse the Moon will form a conjunction with Algol, a fixed star considered very destructive in traditional astrology.

The positions of the planets at the Midheaven/IC have a greater significance than the corresponding ones where they appear to rise or set. This is valid for areas 1 and 3. However, in sparsely populated Alaska, even an M 7 earthquake is just news, and Hawaii is prone to volcanic activity and 6+ earthquakes with no casualties. The Congo-Rwanda border area seems more vulnerable. There, last May, the eruption of Nyiragongo volcano near Goma, followed by dozens of minor quakes, resulted in the displacement of thousands of people. It is should not be ruled out the phenomenon may be repeated in the days near the eclipse. On the other side, the seismic region of Vrancea in Romania has not shown much activity recently.

As for the remaining regions: In recent months, Chile’s M 5> earthquakes take place between 28 and 37 degrees south latitude, and the same region is affected by the Mars-Uranus conjunction. So one or more strong earthquakes should be anticipated there. In high-risk Indonesia M 7> earthquakes sometimes have no consequences for the population, other times they provoke tragedies.

In the Aegean Sea and Asia Minor: a. The M 7 earthquake on 30-10-2020 near Samos which activated the seismic faults of Izmir did not have until today a strong aftershock sequence, b. Lately, in the Dodecanese Islands there is significant seismic activity between Nisyros and Tilos, c. Some seismologists say that a much energy is accumulated in the northern part of the Anatolian fault which is ready for a big earthquake, by 2023. In the Sea of ​​Marmara and near Istanbul, earthquakes can reach magnitude 7+, with the most recent catastrophic 7.6 in Itzmit, on 17-8-1999.

Therefore, a very strong earthquake is probable in Greece-Turkey, along the 28 Meridian (+/- 150km) from November 15 and in the following six months, until mid-May. High-risk areas are the coast of Asia Minor, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dodecanese Islands. The most hazardous time periods are from 15/11 to 20/12/2021, the first week of March and from 15/3/2022 to 16/5/2022.
