Era of Aquarius
The beginning of the Age of Aquarius is a matter of discord amongst the astrologers, but following Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto into the Air element we should expect accelerated technological development. The awakening of people through the Internet will establish the digital democracy. With Pluto in the sign of cyberspace, from 2024 through 2044, work from home will become the norm. The ascending role of social media in the society will result, with Saturn in Aquarius, in national legislation regulating their use. Later, international treaties will also be signed on this subject.
In 2026, Uranus will enter Gemini for seven years. The global spread of the printing press began with Gutenberg’s invention of movable types around 1439 AD, when Uranus was about to enter the sign of communication. In the present second phase the Internet, as instant transmission of information, will evolve as the nervous system of the humanity.
Yet, breakthroughs during the period of Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius may not be so beneficial as they would initially seem. Sometimes progress only means that bad things happen faster and artificial intelligence is always defeated by human stupidity. Abusive technological control of society is a serious concern with Pluto in this sign. The advent of a new reality can lead to a digital dystopia and the “Internet of things” may become a spiderweb for the individual. Let us wish it becomes a gossamer, not a nasty cobweb. At least for our western democracies as in 2026 there will also be a Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries, an aspect with strong socialistic connotations. Pluto’s obscure and terminal effect when applied into societies creates leviathans. Its transit through Scorpio created the global banking network which could not be controlled until the recession of 2008 came. Ongoing planet’s transit through Capricorn maintains the omnipotence of governance by traditional means: governments ruling by decree and whole societies under the “everybody home” order. With a score of vaccines the pandemic will be contained, but eventual threats of a COVID-21 might prolong “accordion lockdowns” should the circumstances demand.
A Capricorn transformed into a Unicorn…
COVID-19 is turning the global economic order upside down: economic devastation, especially in small business, and gradual extinction of the middle class. Therefore, social unrest should be expected in the next few years, fierce in the countries mostly hit by the pandemic. On writing these lines, I see that the Brazilian President J. Bolsonaro said that “Brazil is broke, and I cannot do anything about it.” Who does? Evidently, the global capital by taking the fate of two hundred milion people in their hands and the exploitation of Amazon’s rainforests at a discount. Under such circumstances the “blue screen of death” is a real danger to global finances. Christine Lagarde (1.1.1956) upon leaving IMF spoke about the Great Reset. The matter is how that will be attained. The sublimation of money through crypto-currencies and digital money (credit cards, ATMs, POSs) places an eventual restructuring of the global debt in the hands of the global elite with no popular consultation. They can do the necessary arrangements, excluding the people, by simply turning off the main switch – ATMs, POSs not working for some weeks. In Greece we had this experience in 2015 with capital controls and the banks closed.
Epilogue
All these make the current decade crucial, with new social-political norms emerging. In 2022 Jupiter will enter Pisces and in 2023 Saturn will follow. Pisces is the sign of humanism and benevolence, the place where the falling angel responds to the rising ape. This transition, along with the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in 2026, will make the second half of the decade easier for most countries.
